The time when you bring your newborn home ever since you got to know that you were pregnant is a priceless moment. You may have eyes on a good nursery, a healthy, happy baby, and a caring partner but every time it does not work out well. There are chances that you may not feel good post delivering your baby which is quite normal. Pregnancy changes a lot in the body which needs your priority.

Welcoming your newborn should always be your priority but taking care of your body is also essential. Postpartum is the time when you need to take care of your body the most. The postpartum period is the time that begins after you have successfully delivered your baby and ends when your body reaches back to its pre-pregnant state. Usually, the postpartum period often lasts for 6 to 8 weeks. Under this, the body of a woman goes through a lot physically and emotionally. If you are a resident of Dubai and are looking for care you can easily get postpartum care at the hospital in dubai.

The changes through which a women body goes during the post-pregnancy period are:

Vaginal healing: Post delivery at least for 6 weeks the uterus sloughs its lining which causes vaginal discharge known as lochia. In the starting, it is like a heavy period but later on decreases. There are chances that you can witness vaginal soreness or tears which might hurt you for a few weeks. To make the discomfort easy it is advised to sit properly with support, cool the area with ice, take a pain-reliever, etc.

Perineal care: Perineal care involves cleaning the private parts of a woman post-delivery so that it does not catch an infection. If you had a tear during the delivery the stitches can be uncomfortable leading to problems of sitting, regular pain, etc. If you do not have stitches the area around your vagina can be swallowed. It is advised to keep the area clean, do kegel exercise, etc.

Breast discomforts: After 2 or 3 days of delivery a woman might experience engorgement of breasts that are full, firm, and tender breasts. The full and flattering nipple of the breast can make it hard for the baby to latch on. To ease the discomfort of latching, use your hand.

Mood changes: Pregnancy and post-pregnancy trigger a lot of emotions. Many women experience a feeling of anxiety, difficulty sleeping, and loss of appetite, fatigue, and lack of joy in life. If you have severe mood changes the possibility can be that you might be suffering from postpartum depression. To avoid it and control it tries consulting your doctor.

Physical changes: Physical changes like hair loss, skin problems, weight loss, etc. are the most common changes happening in the body. During pregnancy due to hormone increase the hair growth of the body increases and post-pregnancy, it is the time that hair loss happens.

According to Dr. Elsa, the best obstetrics and gynecology in dubai postpartum care should be an ongoing process rather than a single visit to the doctor after your delivery. Even if you are not able to visit them regularly just try to be in touch with them. Take rest and proper care.
